2024 WALK STAR: Elizabeth Williams
In December of 1996, Liz Williams was 7 years old and diagnosed with severe aplastic anemia: a rare and life-threatening disease in which the body stops producing enough blood cells. Due to the rarity of the disease and lack of information about it at the time, Liz’s parents reached out to the AA & MDS Foundation for guidance. The Foundation provided resources, recommendations, and connections that Liz’s family now credits to saving Liz’s life. By January of 1997, Liz was under the care of the top specialists in the U.S. and received a life-saving bone marrow transplant from her sister, Sarah. Liz is now a wife and mother to an energetic 4 year old. She also recently published a children’s book for families and children going through the bone marrow transplant process. Liz and her family are eternally grateful to the AA & MDS Foundation for their guidance and support.
2024 CELEBRITY STARTER: Gelena Scally, motiv FITNESS, The Woodlands
