March for Marrow Walk
For 35 years, the Aplastic Anemia and MDS International Foundation has been working to provide education, support, and hope for patients living with aplastic anemia, myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH) and related bone marrow failure diseases. Each year we put together an unforgettable morning dedicated to raising awareness about these rare diseases. For the first time this year, we will be moving to Northshore Park in The Woodlands. Join us in the park for a great day!
Help us raise awareness for bone marrow failure disease!
Make a difference, help a patient. Don't delay!
You can register online through Thursday 3/28/19 for the walk, or on site on Saturday 3/30/19. Our goal is to have 500 people running and walking for bone marrow failure diseases.
Join us - register yourself, build a team, become a virtual walker or make a contribution to support our efforts.
Saturday, March 30, 2019 | Time TBD
Northshore Park | 2505 Lake Woodlands Drive | The Woodlands, TX 77381
Funds raised by the March for Marrow Walk will be used to search for a cure for bone marrow failure disease and support the patients who are living with it.
What to Expect
Festivities include multiple options for walkers, team photos, awards, a memorial celebration, inspirational speakers, and a day of fun connecting with fellow patients and families affected by a bone marrow failure disease, raising funds to support AAMDSIF's patient programs and services.

Details coming soon.
The Aplastic Anemia and MDS International Foundation (AAMDSIF) is the world's leading nonprofit health organization for patients and families living with aplastic anemia, myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH) and related bone marrow failure diseases.
The Foundation’s strength stems from the multi-faceted community it developed over 30+ years. AAMDSIF serves and educates the patient population and health professionals and provides financial support to clinical researchers searching for better treatments and cures.
For 13 consecutive years, AAMDSIF has earned a coveted 4-star rating from Charity Navigator, the highest rating awarded by America’s largest independent charity evaluator. Only 1 percent of all American charities achieve this recognition for sound fiscal management and commitment to accountability and transparency.
This event would not be successful without the volunteers who serve on these committees.
The Houston event committee is a wonderful group of Texas volunteers who work together throughout the year to plan this event! Thank you to our committee members for all of their hard work!
The success of this event depends on our volunteers!
Please consider volunteering at the March for Marrow Walk Houston. There is a volunteer role for everyone and we would love for you to get involved!
To get involved with the planning email our volunteer coordinators Heather and Ronald Porter.
Look for more opportunities to volunteer as the event approaches!
2019 WALK STAR: MICHELLE SILLENCE
Michelle Sillence was diagnosed in May 1999 at age 21 with MDS (raebt, refractive anemia, excess blast, in transformation) and was treated with induction chemo at North Shore LIJ in Manhasset NY.
In October 1999 she had a bone marrow transplant at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle WA, after which they forecasted a 1 in 4 chance of survival.
Three years ago, Michelle became part of the March for Marrow family, after meeting Ron Porter (2018 Star!) and on October 7, 2018, was blessed to celebrate her 19th “birthaversary”! Now we are blessed!
Our thanks to these supporters who help make this walk and run possible and ultimately make a difference in patients' lives.
