The Aplastic Anemia and MDS International Foundation (AAMDSIF) is the world's leading nonprofit health organization for patients and families living with aplastic anemia, myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH) and related bone marrow failure diseases.
The Foundation’s strength stems from the multi-faceted community it developed over 30+ years. AAMDSIF serves and educates the patient population and health professionals and provides financial support to clinical researchers searching for better treatments and cures.
For 13 consecutive years, AAMDSIF has earned a coveted 4-star rating from Charity Navigator, the highest rating awarded by America’s largest independent charity evaluator. Only 1 percent of all American charities achieve this recognition for sound fiscal management and commitment to accountability and transparency.

The success of this event depends on our volunteers!
We need many volunteers to make the March for Marrow Walk a fun and successful event.
There are many volunteer spots available including site set-up, registration, water tables, refreshments, first aid station, official photographer, and site clean-up.
On the day of the event, volunteers are needed anywhere between 7:00 am - 12:30 pm.

WHY I DO THIS
I was diagnosed with severe aplastic anemia in 2007 and I had an allogeneic bone marrow transplant in 2008.
Throughout the treatment and many hospitalizations, I discovered more about myself and have a new perspective on life. I felt lost being treated in a cancer center and not having cancer. I was told to do some research about my disease and came across AAMDSIF. I learned that they have conferences and walks and started doing a walk in my hometown.
Although it is a small walk, it is a walk that brings awareness to bone marrow diseases, especially aplastic anemia, and that's my goal!
