For almost 35 years, the Aplastic Anemia and MDS International Foundation has been working to provide education, support, and hope for patients living with aplastic anemia, myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH) and related bone marrow failure diseases. Join us for the 8th Annual March for Marrow 5K Run & Walk and help us find a cure for bone marrow failure disease. Our 5K has the distinction of taking place along the beautiful stretch of shoreline that is part of the Long Beach Shoreline Marina. With the iconic Queen Mary in the background, the course is scenic, flat, and regardless of weather, ideal for beating one's personal best. Help us raise awareness for bone marrow failure disease!
Make a difference, help a patient.Don't delay! You can register online through Thursday 4/26/18 for both the 5K and walk, or on site on Saturday 4/28/18. Our goal is to have 500 people running and walking for bone marrow failure diseases. Join us - register yourself, build a team, become a virtual walker or make a contribution to support our efforts.

The Foundation’s strength stems from the multi-faceted community it developed over 30+ years. AAMDSIF serves and educates the patient population and health professionals and provides financial support to clinical researchers searching for better treatments and cures.
For 12 consecutive years, AAMDSIF has earned a coveted 4-star rating from Charity Navigator, the highest rating awarded by America’s largest independent charity evaluator. Only 1 percent of all American charities achieve this recognition for sound fiscal management and commitment to accountability and transparency.
VOLUNTEER The success of this event depends on our volunteers!
We need many volunteers to make March for Marrow 5K Run & Walk a fun and successful event. We are expecting a large turnout of walkers, runners, patients, family members, medical personnel, supporters, caregivers and community sponsors. There are many volunteer spots available. Click to view the full list of volunteer jobs, descriptions, and times below. On the day of the event, volunteers are needed anywhere between 6:00 am - 12:30 pm.
2018 WALK CHAMPION: KRISSY KOBATA Krissy Kobata was diagnosed in 2009 with MDS, a bone marrow failure disease. She has needed a bone marrow transplant every since diagnosis but no one in her family is a match.
Because Krissy is Japanese and Caucasian, she has made it her mission to find more mixed-race donors for the National Marrow Donor Program through Be the Match and Asians for Miracle Marrow Matches. This year she will be going through a transplant with an unrelated donor as we plan for March for Marrow.
As Krissy says, “Bone marrow transplants are not a perfect solution so I ask each of you to walk or run with us to find a cure.”
