About the Symposium

The AAMDSIF Bone Marrow Failure Symposium - Disease Updates and Health Equity will focus on the most recent advances in pathophysiology, diagnosis and clinical management of aplastic anemia, MDS and PNH.   

Panelists representing a variety of perspectives will discuss practical ways to address gaps in care that may be encountered  by bone marrow failure patients, including:

• Providing guideline concordant care in the community - delivering evidence-based care in the context of access challenges, insurance constraints and patient preferences  
• Infection in patients with bone marrow failure - mortality, morbidity and financial burden of infections in these patients
• Reshaping MDS care through integration of quality of life parameters - psychosocial support, symptom management and palliative care integration
• Addressing barriers to care – ageism, geographic and cultural challenges, delays in diagnosis, long term supportive care
• New and emerging therapies used in hematopoietic cell transplantation

The target audience for this program includes physicians, APPs, NPs, nurses, pharmacists, and social workers. Registration will open soon.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

• Provide accurate differential diagnosis of bone marrow failure diseases, including myelodysplastic syndromes, secondary acute myeloid leukemia, aplastic anemia, and paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria
• Summarize recent progress in understanding the pathogenesis of bone marrow failure diseases
• Identify current therapeutic standards for bone marrow failure diseases, as well as new and emerging therapies used in hematopoietic cell transplantation
• Assess underserved patient populations and patient needs to improve outcomes for bone marrow failure patients

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
This program is intended for physicians, APPs, nurses, pharmacists, social workers, and others who provide care for patients with bone marrow failure conditions.

Registration is open to healthcare professionals treating patients living with aplastic anemia, MDS, PNH, and associated diseases such as AML and MPN. Employees, consultants, or vendors of pharmaceutical or biotech companies working in these disease states may only register if their company is a sponsor.
